Lady of Wilmington

Added on by Andrew Gawdun.

This past week I've been touring North Carolina.  My first stop was Wilmington to see a very dear and best friend, Nicole.  Nicole has been trying to get me to visit her since she moved here a couple years back for her Masters program.  I can't believe I waited so long.  Wilmington in itself is such a beauty.

While Nicole showed me around her favorite haunts I was able to snap a few images with her and of her.  Someone needs to snatch up this beautiful gal already!  -AG

Planes, Weddings and Islands: prt 2

Added on by Andrew Gawdun.

A couple weeks ago I began a series of posts based on the images from my recent August trips...  here''s part 2!

As previously stated I was mainly in Reno to do my friend duties and be in a wedding of a long time friend.  As the first time I'd ever been in a wedding I can say that it's no easy feat!  I've shot and assisted on a few wedding shoots and even that is long and tiresome but whoa!

We began with a fun luncheon on Saturday.  Then followed over to Molly's mom's home for rehearsal.  For as many people included in the wedding line practice was quick and to the point.

The actual wedding was to take place outside of Reno, in northern California at a woodland resort so after the rehearsal I loaded up with new fellow friends for the journey.  But we didn't head there first, especially after learning cell service and other means of modern usage would be limited if non existent.  So my little group headed to down-town Reno for the wonderful sights of Circus Circus, Hotel and Casino.  (Well one of the members of our group had never been there before and it provided us with time to use our phones and such so we agreed.)

Circus Circus is home of many odd things...

and also home to one of the bazillionth...

(Little underline note:  My first job was at the "Midway of Fun" inside Circus Circus, Reno when I was the ripe young age of 14.5.)

We made one final stop for cheap tasty taco's at Taco Maker on the ever so classy working street of 4th.

Once we made the journey north of Reno we arrived in the dark at Long Valley Resort, which was to be the home for the grooms party that night.  I made sure to provide a bottle of wine for Irvin, the groom,  as everyone else forgot that idea.  I mean you can't keep the groom sober the night before his wedding, he might have fled in the night.  Finally after he was good and sauced he headed to his room in the cabin and the rest of us spread out in available sleeping quarters, preparing for the events of the next day...

We were awoken the next day by the bright wooded sun.  Informing us that this was to be a hot day in the woods.

While everyone showered I explored the cabin site just to see what we couldn't the night before due to the extreme darkness the enveloped us.

After exploring and showering we headed out to the wedding site a couple miles up the road, Twenty Mile House.  The actual location was amazing.  This hidden gem within the woods of Northern California.  Thankfully we had plenty of trees to shade us assuring us that once we were changed for show time we would be cool.  With a few short hours to spare we got to work setting up last minute details, ceremony arch and collage photo tree.  (Which by the way, realize that all those photo's you take with your friends in childhood will resurface more than likely at their weddings for many many to see.  I learned that from this wedding, see attached tree collage photos.)

I also managed to clean up very well, if I do say so myself.  I mean forget about the bride, I'm nice to meet!  (love you Molly)  :-)

From an actual part in the ceremony to the outdoor reception the entire weekend was worth the loss in cellular service and modern civilization.  It was truly magical...

A three day event ended in the magnificent wedding of a best friend, Molly, and her kind and caring, now husband, Irvin.  (Oh I say three day event because we stayed and had breakfast Monday morning before returning back to Reno.)

I send these two souls gratitude for having me be a part in their wedding and I send them peace and love for a lifetime.  Congratulations once more Molly and Irvin!!!   -AG
