Saint George, UT - Lucas Aged to a Senior

Added on by Andrew Gawdun.

My brother Lucas has gone and done it!  He's finally the last sibling to enter into his senior year of high school!

Mid August I headed on over to the deserts of Saint George, Utah, (ugh it was hot) to visit the family and capture my brother one last time as a high school student.  It was a cool experience to see the young adult my brother has become over the past few years, not to mention how much easier it has become to photograph him.  Lucas has by far over come some challenges and experiences that I can see have shaped him into the bright and inspirational person he has become.  I'm proud to call him brother, and can't wait to see what this final high school year brings to him and where he goes next.  :)  -AG

Even though he is growing up Lucas will always be my younger brother who chews on his nails...  (he's going to hate that I posted this image.)

Manhattan Beach, CA - Charlie the Heart Stealer

Added on by Andrew Gawdun.

I have a confession...  I used to dislike taking photo's of children.  I had a definite age cut off where I would say that I didn't take pictures of children, which was all true.  It's not that I didn't like kids I just didn't like dealing with the parents when they wanted me to pose and prop their little people up like mannequins, and let's be honest that's not my style anyways.  However in the last year I have met some amazing little children who have changed me for the greater, this does not mean I'll be running out taking photo's of children all the time, it just means my ways have changed....  Ok now that I have that out of the way I can move on to the post!

Charlie!  I can't even begin to tell you the awesomeness that is Charlie.  Without getting into too many details Charlie was born with Hydrocephalus.  A disease with no real cure other than many surgeries and brain shunts which sometimes don't work, but you would never know he has this by being around him.  He is without doubt the happiest 2 year old I have possibly met.  A knack for the spanish phrases, (it's totally cute!) and giving knuckles he is a true heart stealer.  His parents are just as equally awesome FYI.  We had a great little session at a local park that included adventures with the water fountain, other children's toy's and a really magical moment between Charlie and this other boy who helped him out on some of the playground equipment.   It's always a good time when you run around with the heart of a little child and see the world anew through their eyes.  Thanks for that Charlie :)  -AG

Oh and one more thing, Charlie's family is part of this years LA Hydrocephalus walk. Any sort of donation is great donation so click HERE to help out :)
