Kauai, Hawaii - Part of My Heart is an Island

Added on by Andrew Gawdun.

I have posted several posts on the wonderful trips to Kauai I have been able to attend in the past couple years...

Example 1

Example 2

...you get the point.

Maybe I say the same lines every time but Kauai has truly become a special place in my heart.  The memories of dear friends/family, bon fires, camping, surfing, tropical storms, jungle adventures and of course mosquitos all hold dear to me.  It's that time of year again when Bryce and I head back to Kauai and spend a good part of the summer with friends/family.  Each time we go back it makes it so much easier to say, "Yes, when can we purchase our home there and make it our part time residence?"  That day is in the works but until then we will just vacation there and continue to build memories in our hearts.

Here's to last summer and the upcoming trip in just one short weeks where many more memories will be made.  -AG

Waimea Canyon, AKA The Grand Canyon of the Pacific.  Also the home of the wettest spots on Earth.   It's insane!

Biddeford, Maine - My Date w/ the Northeast (prt 2)

Added on by Andrew Gawdun.

Here it is!  I know all you avid readers and viewers have waited the last two days for Part 2 from my recent travels and adventures to the far north state of Maine.  Part 1 was all images from land adventures, and this much smaller post shares the coastal images I managed to snap up using my iPhone and Nikon.

Genna and Cory lucked out with the coolest home possible.  One side of their home is against a Nature Preserve and the other side faces the coast across the street.  Being so close makes it easier to walk the dogs along the beach, oh and they actually let you have dogs on the beach, unlike here in Los Angeles where it's frowned upon and also banned.  (Unless you take them down to the beach when it's dark out and no one can see you let them run free, but you still pick up the poop.)  Anyways it was fun seeing the far northeastern coast and how much more different and similar it can be to the southern pacific coast.  Enjoy the visuals.  -AG

That little snail above was cruising to make it back to the sea during low tide.

These "pots" as you would call them only reveal themselves during low-tide and we have no clue as to what they came from or what their purpose is.

I was told that I would notice the tide changes significantly on the East Coast.  This rock is proof!  At low tide it looks like this but at high tide it goes underwater completely.  The dog gives perfect height difference of the tide…

I brought the crab home and have coated it with a clear protector coat to keep it in it's whole shape.  Possibly making it's way to a future terrarium, but either way I just love that it looks like it's last breath was spent waving it's claw at a passing friend.  "enjoy the journey."
