Biddeford, Maine - My Date w/ the Northeast (prt 2)

Added on by Andrew Gawdun.

Here it is!  I know all you avid readers and viewers have waited the last two days for Part 2 from my recent travels and adventures to the far north state of Maine.  Part 1 was all images from land adventures, and this much smaller post shares the coastal images I managed to snap up using my iPhone and Nikon.

Genna and Cory lucked out with the coolest home possible.  One side of their home is against a Nature Preserve and the other side faces the coast across the street.  Being so close makes it easier to walk the dogs along the beach, oh and they actually let you have dogs on the beach, unlike here in Los Angeles where it's frowned upon and also banned.  (Unless you take them down to the beach when it's dark out and no one can see you let them run free, but you still pick up the poop.)  Anyways it was fun seeing the far northeastern coast and how much more different and similar it can be to the southern pacific coast.  Enjoy the visuals.  -AG

That little snail above was cruising to make it back to the sea during low tide.

These "pots" as you would call them only reveal themselves during low-tide and we have no clue as to what they came from or what their purpose is.

I brought the crab home and have coated it with a clear protector coat to keep it in it's whole shape.  Possibly making it's way to a future terrarium, but either way I just love that it looks like it's last breath was spent waving it's claw at a passing friend.  "enjoy the journey."

Biddeford & Portland, Maine - My Date w/ the Northeast (prt 1)

Added on by Andrew Gawdun.

If you travel and don't fall in love with the destination I would say you are traveling wrong!  Last week I got back from the most amazing time in Maine.  First off it was my first time to Maine and let's be honest that far up north our great U.S.A.  (Trust me I didn't think about the distance from Los Angeles to Maine until I actually looked at a map, and it's wayyyy far up there!)  A year ago two amazing friends, Genna and Cory (yeah that Genna and Cory I photographed when I moved to LA) decided to change their scenery after Cory was accepted to boat building school.  Yeah you read that right, BOAT BUILDING SCHOOL, it's a thing!  So they Genna quit her job as store manager of Bryce's shop here in Hermosa and Cory left his job as a TV production assistant.  Big time life changes all around for them :)

So for my birthday this year Bryce bought me a round-trip ticket to go out and visit the crazy couple.  (Isn't Bryce amazing!)  With a week planned for early June I set out and had an amazing time exploring their new slower paced world on the Northeast coast.  The two live in this amazing cottage where one side is against a wild life preserve/marsh and the other side is the Atlantic Ocean.  The most ideal situation with two big dogs who just want to go out and play on the beach and in the woods.   From their tiny town of Biddeford, Maine to right up the road in Portland, Maine they spent the weeks sharing their world.  From apartment hunting, (their moving for new jobs in their area), munching on fresh Maine Lobster Rolls, to sipping tea on the back porch in the mid morning hours, and walks with the dogs on their beaches, oh and trespassing around this amazing abandoned house, we did it all.

With all these adventures this blog post would be too long so I have broken it up into 2 parts.  This first part is images from my adventures that week not including sea side images.  The 2nd post (check back on Tuesday morning) covers the sea side coast images.  So sit back.  Grab a cup of your favorite beverage.  Give yourself a second to stretch that "scroll finger."  Then get to scrolling and enjoy the visual love I brought back for you all.  :)  -AG

Across the coast lies a house that you would think to be being used.  However upon our trespassing it was discovered the home is completely empty and carried a ominous feeling about it.  That feeling might have been induced after finding the wall of collected bones... (images to follow).  Needless to say the house is amazing!

I actually found this sign very rude.  Once I did see it, I left the store not wanting to spend my money to support them.  I love story telling and that is what drives my business of capturing couples and families.
